Werribee Mercy Hospital, located just 25 km west of Melbourne on the Princes Highway, is a dynamic public general hospital offering a wide range of services, including surgical, maternity, orthopaedic, and a 24-hour emergency department. Since opening in January 1994, the hospital has grown rapidly to meet the needs of Melbourne’s fast-growing western suburbs. A new emergency department is currently underway with a view to have it completed late 2026, The expansion will increase treatment spaces from 33 to 67. This includes four new resuscitation bays, 16 short stay beds and 36 emergency care cubicles to care for a rapidly growing population.

 

About the Role:

Located at Werribee Mercy Public Hospital , an exciting opportunity currently exists for an enthusiastic and experienced Medical Imaging Technologist to join our Radiology Department as the Tutor Radiographer. This is a permanent full-time position working alongside the Chief Radiographer and modality supervisors to provide an engaging environment for student radiographers where they can gain experience and increase their proficiency and independence. In this role you will be responsible for student rostering and mentoring, and driving high quality imaging and an effective teaching setting across Mercy Public Hospital and our other associated imaging sites. The role will also involve liaising with external stakeholders such as the universities to ensure a high quality & collaborative experience for students under Lumus’ Supervision.

 

Role requirements:

  • Comprehensive clinical experience as a radiographer, with previous experience mentoring and educating students. MRI experience is an advantage.
  • A passion for teaching, and a strong desire to help students with their training
  • Excellent communication and people skills, ability to be assertive, and a high level of emotional intelligence
  • A great attitude with a strong desire to learn and improve.
  • Very high standards of imaging quality and patient care  
  • A good understanding of patient, staff, radiation and workplace safety practices
  • University or equivalent qualifications in Medical Imaging Technology
  • Current AHPRA Registration and Vic radiation license
  • Driver’s license
