About the role
Looking for a challenge that's out of the ordinary? Look no further! We're seeking a motivated, exceptional Duty Scientist to join our engaging and passionate Duty Scientist teams and drive quality patient care and continuous improvement.
Your key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:
• Manage and oversee the day-to-day Laboratory operations queries and troubleshooting guidance to ensure timely and accurate patient care
• Manage and oversee the day-to-day escalations from collection, data entry, contact centre, couriers, testing departments, regional laboratories team; and liaise directly with requesting doctors, patients, pathologists, vets, commercial clients, facilities manager and external vendors
• Manage and help coordinate Central Laboratory facilities maintenance, review and maintaining temperature monitoring, assist in ACC and laboratory access monitoring and establishment for QML Pathology and external stakeholders
• Escalation of Incidents occurring in Collection and Laboratory through the appropriate channels, documenting non conformances and authorizing recollections.
• Develop and implement procedures to improve operational efficiency and reduce risk to patient care
• Ensure that all health and safety regulations are followed in the laboratory, lead emergency evacuation as Chief Emergency Warden
• Work closely with the Chief Scientists and Laboratory Operations Manager to develop and implement strategies to grow the business
About you
To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the essential requirements:
• Tertiary qualification in Medical Laboratory Science or demonstrated experience in a similar role
• Previous experience in multi-disciplinary environment (preferrable)
• Understanding of Quality, WHS and laboratory operations principles
• Planning and organisational skills to facilitate meeting stakeholders needs and completion of projects as planned
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Effective communication skills in individual and group situations
• Demonstrated culture of continuously seeking opportunities for different and innovative approaches to problems and opportunities
• Demonstrated leadership capability leading a highly productive team for results excellence
