About the role
We have an exciting full-time opportunity for a Specialised Chemistry Scientist to perform routine diagnostic assays whilst adhering to documented procedures.
This role will be based at the QML Pathology Central Laboratory and will include Monday to Friday 7.6 hour shifts between the hours of 6:00am and 6:00pm. Occasional overtime and out of usual hours may be required based on operational needs.
As the Specialised Chemistry Scientist, you will become part of a passionate, vibrant and engaged team who are responsible for:
- Performing routine diagnostic assays using manual processes and automated equipment
- Adhering to documented procedures
- Document and interpret test results accurately and promptly.
- Participate in regular training for relevant techniques and instrument operation, engage in ongoing departmental competency programs and external quality assurance programs
- Effective communication of non-compliant sample issues to clients
- Maintain accurate records of all laboratory activities, including test results, quality control data, and equipment maintenance logs.
- Collaborate with colleagues and the Chief Scientist to identify areas for improvement and implement workflow enhancements for continuous laboratory improvement.
About you
To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the essential requirements:
- Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent
- Familiarity with standard biochemical techniques and procedures
- A willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and procedures
- Self-initiative and problem-solving capabilities
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- This role may require additional vaccination history and evidence for department specific vaccine preventative diseases
