About the role

We are seeing a highly motivated individual to become a part of our cytology team. Under the leadership of the Chief Scientist – Cytology and clinical guidance from the Head of Anatomical Pathology, your key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:
•    Participate in routine screening of gynaecological and non-gynaecological specimens.
•    Maintaining current scientific knowledge.
•    Liaising with internal and/or external stakeholders (referring practitioners) regarding test results or referrals as necessary.
•    Compliance and adherence with Policies and Procedures, Workplace Health and Safety Procedures and Quality Assurance Processes.
•    Provide guidance and support to laboratory staff in the assessment and processing of specimens.

 

About you

To be considered for the role you will need to demonstrate:
•    Completed a B. App Sc (MLS) or equivalent and CT(ASC) gyn. CT(ASC) gyn + non-gynae preferred.  
•    Experience in screening non-gynaecological samples, including but not limited to FNA samples, body fluids and respiratory specimens. 
•    Experience in gynaecological liquid based cervical cytology.
•    Understanding of the National Cervical Screening Program guidelines
•    The ability to work both independently and cooperatively with other scientists and pathologists
•    Strong time management, interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
•    Demonstrate self-initiative and problem solving capabilities.
•    Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy and commitment to quality and excellence
•    Be familiar with laboratory information systems.
•    A commitment to quality and customer service
•    The ability to maintain safe work practices.
•    Undertaken a microscopy test.
•    The experience and ability to train junior/trainee scientists.
•    Knowledge and experience in quality assurance programs considered advantageous.
