Right now, it’s an exciting time to join us as we transform into a stronger, more agile organisation focused on excellent customer and patient experiences, smarter ways of working, and providing a great place to work.

This is an opportunity to contribute to our Digital transformation journey, helping to design and build modern, scalable platforms that underpin how diagnostic services are delivered across Australia. You’ll work on products that improve the way patients, doctors and clinicians interact with our services, while helping shape secure, reliable and future‑ready healthcare solutions. It’s a chance to make a real‑world impact through meaningful, large‑scale systems, alongside highly skilled teams re‑imagining healthcare through technology.

About Us

Healius has an expansive network of over 80 medical laboratories and 2000 patient collection centres operating across metropolitan, regional and remote Australia. We provide 1 in every 3 pathology services in Australia, extending from exclusively servicing some of Australia’s largest and most complex private and public hospitals, to small Indigenous Australian communities. This means that you will be working in a business large enough to offer you job stability & security, interstate mobility and the opportunity to fulfil your career ambitions.

As a Senior Java Developer, you’ll contribute to the design, development and ongoing evolution of digital solutions that support how diagnostic services are delivered across Australia. Working within an agile engineering team, you’ll help shape secure, scalable and future‑ready platforms that enable high‑quality healthcare experiences.

  • Develop and support microservices and API integrations within a modern, enterprise environment
  • Identify and remediate issues related to code quality, security, performance and maintainability
  • Perform peer code reviews and contribute to consistent engineering standards and best practices
  • Support CI/CD pipelines and continuous improvement of build and deployment processes
  • Collaborate with Tech Leads, QA engineers and agile team members to deliver high‑quality digital solutions

What Type of Person Will Be Successful

To be successful in this role, you’ll be an experienced Java developer with a strong background delivering enterprise‑grade digital solutions in agile environments. You’ll be technically confident, quality‑focused, and comfortable collaborating within small, high‑performing teams to build secure and scalable platforms.

You will bring:

  • 5+ years’ hands‑on experience developing Java‑based, full‑stack applications using Spring Framework and Thymeleaf
  • A Bachelor degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline
  • Proven experience working in enterprise Agile environments, collaborating closely with Tech Leads and QA engineers
  • Strong experience designing and building microservices and API integrations

  • Practical experience supporting CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Azure DevOps or GitHub)
  • Experience with cloud technologies (Azure), modern authentication standards (OpenID / OAuth2), or in healthcare and diagnostics environments is advantageous but not essential.
