About the role This is a career opportunity for an enthusiastic, appropriately qualified, experienced Complex Cut Up Scientist to join our Histology team located in Heidelberg, Victoria.
We are seeking an individual who is highly motivated to become part of a passionate, vibrant and engaged team who will be responsible for:
Performing cut up on a range of complex specimens
Provide ongoing support and training for Scientists
Competency assessments of cut up team members and assist Chief Scientist with performance reviews
Assist with updating and creating manuals and documentation
About you
To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the essential requirements:
Extensive histological dissection knowledge & experience of non-complex and complex specimens in a diagnostic anatomical pathology laboratory
Appropriate tertiary qualifications - Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or similar relevant qualification, post graduate study in complex dissection is desirable
Thorough knowledge of routine histology procedures such as tissue processing, embedding and microtomy
Strong attention to detail, effective problem-solving skills & excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrates a high level of initiative, be self-directed and demonstrates a commitment to participate in continuing education
Sound knowledge of NPAC guidelines pertaining to grossing specimen and all histological procedures
Adherence to safety standards.
Salary will be commensurate with experience.
