Laboratory Manager – Hospital-Based Laboratory

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Medical Scientist to step into the role of Laboratory Manager within a busy hospital-based pathology laboratory.

This senior leadership position is ideal for a highly skilled, multi-disciplined scientist with demonstrated competence across a broad range of laboratory services, including Biochemistry, Haematology (including morphology), and Transfusion/Blood Bank.

As Laboratory Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operational oversight of the laboratory, ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and service delivery. A key focus of the role is maintaining and overseeing all aspects of quality management and quality control, while also providing strong leadership through the training, mentoring, and empowerment of scientific staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Operational management of a multi-skilled hospital laboratory

• Oversight of quality control, quality assurance, and compliance with relevant standards

• Leadership, supervision, and professional development of laboratory scientific staff

• Ensuring safe, efficient, and accurate laboratory practices across all disciplines

• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the laboratory

About You

• Qualified and experienced Medical Scientist

• Strong working knowledge across Biochemistry, Haematology (including morphology), and Blood Bank

• Proven leadership capability with a passion for developing and supporting staff

• High attention to quality, safety, and regulatory compliance

• Excellent communication and organisational skills
