About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Molecular Infectious Scientist to conduct and report molecular diagnostic tests for detecting and characterising infectious diseases using advanced molecular techniques including PCR analysis.
As the Molecular Infectious Scientist, you will become part of a passionate, vibrant and engaged team who are responsible for:
• Perform Infectious Molecular testing using various techniques, including PCR.
• Verification of results and provide comprehensive reports to assist with clinical decisions.
• Ensure the precision and accuracy of all infectious molecular tests conducted, to assist with clinical decisions.
• Document and interpret test results accurately and promptly.
• Perform regular maintenance and/or basic troubleshooting on instrumentation, equipment and manual techniques.
• Participate in regular training for relevant techniques and instrument operation and engage in ongoing departmental competency programs and external quality assurance programs
• Maintain accurate records of all laboratory activities, including test results, quality control data, and equipment maintenance logs.
• Collaborate with colleagues and the Chief Scientist to identify areas for improvement and implement workflow enhancements for continuous laboratory improvement.
About you
To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the essential requirements:
• Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent
• Previous experience in a Infectious molecular laboratory
• Familiarity with standard Infectious Molecular techniques and procedures
• A willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and procedures
• Self-initiative and problem-solving capabilities
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
• This role may require additional vaccination history and evidence for department specific vaccine preventative diseases
