About Us

Laverty Pathology is a Healius business. Healius has an expansive network of over 100 medical laboratories and approximately 2000 patient collection centres operating across metropolitan, regional and remote Australia. About The Role

As a Hospital Pathology Collector, you will be rostered across Lingard Hospital and Hunter Valley Private Hospital. In this role, you will perform pathology collections within a hospital setting, working across various wards including Medical, Surgical, ICU, CCU, Rehabilitation, Day Surgery and Recovery.

A key aspect of this role is building strong relationships with doctors, nurses and patients, using your excellent communication skills to understand and respond to the needs of both the clinical environment and each individual patient.

Key responsibilities:

  • Perform advanced pathology collection duties, including collecting blood and non-blood samples across multiple wards with accuracy and care
  • Build effective relationships with doctors, nurses and patients to support high-quality patient outcomes
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records for all patients and samples
     

This role may also involve completing home visits to conduct collections within the community.

 

About You

We are ideally seeking an experienced Pathology Collector with a Certificate III in Pathology Collection and experience working within a hospital environment.

We also welcome applications from candidates without direct collection experience who have a background in healthcare, such as aged care, disability support or similar settings, and are looking to transition into pathology.

Above all, success in this role requires you to be comfortable working in a fast-paced hospital environment, managing changing priorities and staying calm under pressure.

You will also bring:

  • Strong customer service and communication skills, with a high level of empathy
  • Excellent organisation, attention to detail and time management  
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel across multiple sites, including hospitals and home visits
  • A valid full Driver's license with access to own car
  • A valid Working With Children’s Check or willingness to obtain one prior to commencing employment
  • Vaccine preventable disease evidence such as Hepatitis B is a requirement of this role
  • *You must live within a 30 minute drive of both Lingard Hospital and Hunter Valley Private Hospital due to on call requirements
