This is a fantastic opportunity for a Medical Administration Officer / Receptionist to join our welcoming and highly specialised dermatopathology laboratory based in North Ryde. You will be fully supported with training and guidance to help you settle into the role with confidence, while working in a warm, friendly and professional environment alongside a vibrant team of dermatopathologists.

What You’ll Be Doing
In this varied and fast‑paced role, you will provide high‑quality administrative and secretarial support to our dermatopathologists while delivering exceptional service to our internal and external stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing excellent, professional customer and administrative service to key stakeholders and colleagues
- Acting as a Medical Secretary for a team of dermatopathologists, including:
- Handling inbound and outbound phone calls with general practitioners, specialists, surgeons, medical staff and internal colleagues
- Managing faxing of reports and requests
- Processing department‑related mail and email correspondence
- Printing, copying and scanning documents
- Filing and retrieving slides
- Liaising and correlating with Marketing
- Processing stores orders for the laboratory, office and clients
- Managing inventory
- Supporting additional office duties and pathologist requests as required
- Troubleshooting cases
- Transcribing dermatopathology dictation accurately using transcription software
What Type of Person Will Be Successful
You are a professional, organised and detail‑oriented administrator who enjoys working in a medical environment. You thrive on multitasking, take pride in accuracy and enjoy contributing to a collaborative and supportive team culture.
You will ideally bring:
- A professional manner with an excellent phone presence
- Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise competing tasks
- High‑level organisational skills and attention to detail
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Typing speed of 70+ WPM with excellent touch‑typing skills
- Outstanding literacy and accuracy using British/Australian English
- Willingness to learn department‑specific medical terminology and transcription software
The following skills will be highly regarded:
- Experience as a medical typist, medical secretary or in a similar role
- Previous administration experience
- Experience or study within a health‑based science or healthcare environment
- Familiarity with medical terminology, particularly histopathology
- Previous audio transcription experience
