About The Role
We are currently seeking a full-time Technical Officer to join our Serology & Immunology department, based in our North Ryde Laboratory. Reporting to the Chief Scientist, you will be responsible for the routine functioning of our automated laboratory testing, result validation, as well as other general department duties as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform serological assays including:
- Electrophoresis
- ELISA
- Radioimmunoassay
- Immunofluorescene
- Operate and maintain a range of automated analysers, including:
- BioPlex
- Aptiva
- Analyser‑1
- Liaison XL
- Alinity
- Atellica
- Helios
- Phadia 1000 and 250
- Conduct C14 urea breath testing and ensure accurate result interpretation
- Follow established laboratory protocols, quality control procedures, and accreditation standards
- Troubleshoot instrument and assay issues to maintain workflow continuity
- Record, analyse, and validate test results with a high level of accuracy
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and uphold a safe, compliant laboratory environment
About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate a strong blend of skills, including:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in science from a recognised Australian institution (or an equivalent qualification recognised in Australia)
- Pathology laboratory experience in Serology and/or Immunology, desirable but not essential
- Ability to participate in a rotating morning and afternoon roster, including weekend shifts
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing
- High level of attention to detail with a highly organised and logical approach to problem solving
- A professional attitude towards confidentiality and data integrity
- Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
- Sound organisational skills and the ability to follow procedures accurately
- Ability to understand and ensure compliance with WHS policies and guidelines
