We are currently seeking a Scientific Officer to join our friendly team based in our Strathfield lab and the role is expected to rotate in other Metropolitan stat laboratories including Kareena private hospital and Hurstville Private Hospital labs.
Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, this multi-faceted role will involve the accurate and efficient testing of specimens, quality assurance and instrumentation, as well as other ad-hoc duties as required. Knowledge in Transfusion is essential and Haematology and/or Biochemistry is highly desirable.
To be successful in this role you must have the following:
- A Medical Laboratory Science degree obtained from a recognised Australian institution
- Knowledge in Transfusion is essential, and Haematology and/or Biochemistry is highly desirable
- Experience in a pathology laboratory is highly desirable
- Be able to participate in a rotating 24/7 roster including weekends, overnight shifts and on call
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members and other departments both verbally and written
- Self-motivation and the ability to work within a team
- High level of attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to demonstrate sound organisation skills
- A professional attitude towards confidentiality
- Ability to understand and ensure compliance with WH&S policies and guidelines
- Sharing the company’s vision, cultures and values
About You:
- Experience in Blood Banking, Haematology and Biochemistry is preferred but not essential
- A relevant Technical qualification or AIMS accredited degree obtained from an accredited tertiary institution
- Be able to work a 7 day rotating roster as well as participating in an on-call roster
- Hold a Current NSW Drivers Licence
- An outstanding commitment to quality and excellence
- A willingness to adhere to departmental and organisational policies and procedures
- A positive attitude toward achieving outcomes and being a cohesive, contributing team member
- Strong time management, interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
