At Healius, we all have one thing in common: we are passionate about making a difference to the health of Australians. And right now, there’s never been a more exciting time to join us. As we continue our transformation into a stronger, more agile organisation, we are focused on delivering excellent customer and patient experiences, smarter ways of working, and providing a great place to work.
This is a newly created opportunity to play a pivotal role in the successful delivery of our Australian Defence Force (ADF) pathology contract. As the dedicated expert responsible for billing ADF‑related pathology tests, you will ensure accurate, compliant and timely billing for this nationally significant partnership.
In this hands‑on role, you’ll collaborate closely with a wide range of stakeholders, giving you direct visibility and influence across the full billing lifecycle. With a clear purpose, strong cross‑functional collaboration, and the chance to contribute to an important national contract from day one, this is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a busy but supportive finance team.
About Us
Healius has an expansive network of over 80 medical laboratories and 2,000 patient collection centres operating across metropolitan, regional and remote Australia.
We provide 1 in every 3 pathology services in Australia, extending from exclusively servicing some of Australia’s largest and most complex private and public hospitals, to small Indigenous Australian communities.
This means that you will be working in a business large enough to offer job stability and security, interstate mobility, and opportunities to fulfil your career ambitions.
What You Will Be Doing
As an ADF Billing Specialist, you will be working exclusively on our ADF contract to ensure all ADF‑related pathology tests are billed accurately, compliantly and in line with contractual, Commonwealth and State requirements. Key responsibilities include:
- Deliver timely and accurate billing for ADF accounts.
- Monitor and audit ADF billing activity to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Identify billing errors, Xtend/Suspend issues and other discrepancies, correcting and re‑issuing invoices where required.

- Strengthen billing processes through proactive issue identification, escalation and solution support.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships and effective communication with ADF Accounts teams and internal stakeholders to support prompt resolution of billing queries.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of billing workflows, documentation and standardisation across ADF accounts.
What Type of Person Will Be Successful
To be successful in this role, you will be detail‑driven, accountable and confident managing billing accuracy from end to end. You’ll communicate clearly, work collaboratively across stakeholders, and take ownership of escalating issues when needed. Your ability to follow processes, identify errors and support continuous improvement will be key to maintaining strong billing integrity.
You will bring:
- Experience in a billing role, ideally within an Australian pathology or healthcare organisation.
- Experience and confidence working with billing and financial systems
