What You Will Be Doing

 

As an Assistant Accountant, you will provide key support to the national accounting team, with a focus on month-end activities, property‑related expenses, and supplier reconciliations. Your work will help ensure accurate reporting, effective cost control, and compliance with internal policies and accounting standards.

 

In this role, you will:

  • Support month‑end processes including journals, accruals, prepayments, reporting and variance analysis
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations and follow up outstanding items
  • Review and validate supplier and expenditure data, ensuring timely and accurate payments
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external partners to resolve queries and maintain smooth financial workflows
  • Assist with documentation required for tax and compliance activities
  • Contribute to process improvements, system enhancements, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Help maintain accurate site and property information to support financial reporting

 

 

What Type of Person Will Be Successful

 

To be successful in this role, you'll bring a solid foundation in accounting, strong attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem‑solving. You’ll be comfortable working with numbers, timelines and stakeholders, and motivated to grow your skills in a busy, supportive team.

 

You will ideally have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting
  • 2+ years’ experience as an assistant accountant or in a similar accounting role
  • Experience with month‑end tasks such as journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations
  • Strong MS Excel skills (Power Query experience is a bonus)
  • The capability to work independently as well as collaboratively
  • Confidence working within deadlines and reporting cycles
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with finance and non‑finance stakeholders
  • A proactive, solutions‑focused mindset and a genuine desire to improve processes
