Why You Will Be Excited About This Role

At Healius, we share one purpose: making a difference to the health of Australians. Right now, it’s an exciting time to join us as we transform into a stronger, more agile and digitally enabled healthcare organisation — focused on creating exceptional patient experiences, driving smarter ways of working, and fostering an environment where our people can thrive.

Procurement is playing a critical role in shaping how technology supports clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and patient outcomes. This is a unique opportunity to take full ownership of the IT category within a high-performing, best-practice procurement team at one of Australia’s leading healthcare companies.

This is a high-impact role where you will lead category strategy, influence senior stakeholders, and deliver significant commercial benefits. You’ll enjoy high autonomy, direct exposure to senior leadership, and the opportunity to modernise and elevate the IT procurement agenda across the organisation.

About Us

Healius has an expansive network of over 100 medical laboratories and 2000 patient collection centres operating across metropolitan, regional and remote Australia. We provide 1 in every 3 pathology services in Australia, extending from exclusively servicing some of Australia’s largest and most complex private and public hospitals, to small Indigenous Australian communities. This means that you will be working in a business large enough to offer you job stability & security, interstate mobility and the opportunity to fulfil your career ambitions.

About The Role

As IT Category Manager, you will be the sole owner of the IT category and operate with a high degree of autonomy while collaborating closely with a high-performing procurement team. Reporting directly to the GM Procurement, you will play a pivotal role in shaping category strategy and driving initiatives that deliver material and sustained commercial benefits.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Own the IT category end-to-end, including enterprise software, SaaS, cloud, infrastructure, cybersecurity, telco, digital platforms, and system integrators.
  • Develop and execute IT category strategies that deliver both supply-side and demand-side benefits.
  • Lead complex sourcing, contracting, and vendor management initiatives, including enterprise software and SaaS negotiations.
  • Drive technology rationalisation, standardisation and consolidation programs.
  • Conduct deep spend, contract, and vendor analysis to identify material improvement opportunities.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders, including CTO and digital transformation leaders, to align technology demand with business and clinical priorities.
  • Ensure delivery of benefits through robust governance and reporting.
  • Contribute to best-practice procurement frameworks and continuous improvement initiatives.

This role offers hybrid working arrangements from our Sydney CBD head office, located near Town Hall.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will be a commercially minded and strategic category leader who thrives in high-autonomy environments and is confident engaging with senior stakeholders.

Key attributes include:

  • Tertiary qualifications in business, IT, procurement, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in IT category management, ideally 5+ years in complex environments.
  • Strong background in enterprise software and SaaS contracting, with exposure to cloud, cybersecurity, and infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technology rationalisation and vendor consolidation initiatives.
  • Advanced commercial, analytical, and negotiation skills.
  • Experience influencing and partnering with senior technology and digital stakeholders.
  • A track record of delivering significant benefit outcomes in large or distributed organisations.
