This is a great opportunity for an experienced HR generalist to step into a true People & Culture Business Partner role with an employee relations focus. You’ll partner closely with leaders across the business, providing practical coaching and support on a broad range of people matters, while also supporting with guidance on ER issues as they arise. This role will suit someone who enjoys variety, can balance strategic partnering with hands-on delivery, and has had exposure to employee relations in a complex environment.

About Us

Healius has an expansive network of over 80 medical laboratories and 2000 patient collection centres operating across metropolitan, regional and remote Australia. We provide 1 in every 3 pathology services in Australia, extending from exclusively servicing some of Australia’s largest and most complex private and public hospitals, to small Indigenous Australian communities. This means that you will be working in a business large enough to offer you job stability & security, interstate mobility and the opportunity to fulfil your career ambitions.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will partner with leaders to deliver practical People & Culture support across the employee lifecycle, helping to build leadership capability, drive engagement and support business performance. Alongside your broader HRBP responsibilities, you will also provide high-level support on employee relations matters, helping leaders navigate issues confidently, consistently and in line with legislation, policies and Healius values.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Partner with leaders to provide trusted advice and support across a broad range of people and culture matters
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders and contribute to the delivery of people plans aligned to business priorities
  • Coach leaders on performance management, employee engagement, development and day-to-day people decisions
  • Support workforce planning, organisational change and other people initiatives across the business
  • Provide practical, commercially sound guidance on employee relations matters, including grievances, performance concerns, conduct issues and disciplinary processes
  • Assist with ER case management and documentation, ensuring matters are handled consistently and in line with legislation, policies and procedures
  • Support risk mitigation by escalating more complex or high-risk ER matters where appropriate
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of People & Culture processes, templates and ways of working
  • Partner with the broader People & Culture team to deliver both strategic and operational outcomes

What Type of Person Will Be Successful

To be successful, you will be a pragmatic People & Culture professional with a strong generalist foundation and the confidence to partner with leaders across a range of HR matters. You’ll bring sound judgement, a hands-on approach and the ability to provide practical advice in a complex organisation. Exposure to employee relations will be highly advantageous.

You will ideally bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in a HR Business Partner, HR Advisor or generalist People & Culture role
  • Exposure to employee relations or industrial relations matters, with the ability to support leaders on lower to mid-level ER issues
  • Sound knowledge of Australian employment legislation, the Fair Work Act and workplace policies and procedures
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills across a range of levels
  • Experience coaching leaders on performance, conduct, wellbeing and other people-related matters
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery and operational support
  • Strong communication, judgement and problem-solving skills
  • Tertiary qualifications in human resources or a related discipline would be highly regarded
