At Healius, we all have one thing in common – we are passionate about making a difference to the health of Australians. And right now, it’s a pretty exciting time to join us, as we transform into a stronger, more agile organisation focused on creating excellent customer and patient experiences, smarter ways of working, and continuing our focus on being a great place to work.
You’ll join our Talent & Capability team within our People & Culture function and play a key role in shaping how our people learn, grow and deliver exceptional care. You’ll design learning experiences from the ground up, modernise existing programs, and experiment with new technologies to enhance how learning is delivered across the organisation.
You’ll collaborate closely with subject matter experts and stakeholders, giving you broad exposure and a clear connection between your work and real outcomes for our people and the communities we serve.
If you’re motivated by impactful learning design, enjoy simplifying complex content, and want to grow within a purpose‑driven organisation, you’ll find this role both challenging and rewarding.
About Us
Healius has an expansive network of over 100 medical laboratories and 2000 patient collection centres operating across metropolitan, regional and remote Australia.
We provide 1 in every 3 pathology services in Australia, extending from exclusively servicing some of Australia’s largest and most complex private and public hospitals, to small Indigenous Australian communities.
This means that you will be working in a business large enough to offer you job stability & security, interstate mobility and the opportunity to fulfil your career ambitions.
What You Will Be Doing
As an Instructional Designer, you will create engaging, learner‑centred experiences that help our people build the skills and confidence needed to deliver safe, high‑quality care. You’ll combine learning theory, creativity and technology to turn complex content into clear, practical learning solutions.
In this role, you will:
- Design and develop high‑quality learning solutions including eLearning, in‑person and virtual instructor‑led training, blended learning, microlearning and job aids.
- Partner with subject matter experts and stakeholders to analyse learning needs and define clear, measurable learning objectives.
- Apply instructional design models and adult learning principles to create effective, engaging learning journeys.
- Create storyboards, scripts and prototypes for digital learning content that is engaging and on‑brand.
- Build and deploy learning using authoring tools such as Articulate 360, Rise and Storyline, and manage content in our LMS (SAP SuccessFactors).
- Ensure all learning materials are accessible, inclusive and aligned with design standards.
- Manage multiple projects, coordinating timelines and stakeholders to deliver on agreed milestones.
- Use feedback, evaluation data and learning analytics to continuously refine learning content.
- Maintain and champion design frameworks and templates to ensure consistency, accessibility and engagement.
- Stay up to date with emerging trends in AI and learning technology, identifying opportunities to streamline content creation, personalise learning and improve reporting.
What Type of Person Will Be Successful
To be successful in this role, you’ll be a curious and collaborative learning professional who enjoys working with others to solve problems and improve performance. You’re comfortable moving between big‑picture learning strategy and hands‑on design, and you’re motivated by turning complex information into clear, simple and engaging learning programs that make a real impact.
You will ideally have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Learning Sciences or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- A strong understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design theories and best‑practice methodologies.
- Experience designing and developing end‑to‑end learning programs in a large, complex organisation.
- Hands‑on experience with eLearning authoring tools such as Articulate 360, Rise, Storyline (and/or Captivate).
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (ideally SAP SuccessFactors) and how to manage and deliver digital learning at scale.
- Excellent written, visual and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical or complex content into clear, engaging learning.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with experience working effectively with subject matter experts and managing small to medium‑sized projects.
- The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality.
- Experience using AI tools to support content creation, course delivery, marketing and reporting.
