About Us

About The Role

As our Principal Data Engineer, you’ll be the most senior technical expert in the team, responsible for designing and delivering resilient, scalable data solutions that enable reliable insights across the organisation. This is a hands-on role combined with architectural leadership, where you’ll work closely with business stakeholders to solve complex problems and deliver tangible business value.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide hands-on technical leadership, including architectural and design guidance, code reviews and mentoring.
  • Design, develop and maintain data pipelines and ELT/ETL workflows at scale.
  • Collaborate with data analysts and business stakeholders to deliver insights and analytics solutions.
  • Manage and optimise data platforms and architectures to ensure reliability, performance and scalability.
  • Implement robust data management and governance practices, including security and risk controls.
  • Drive continuous improvement by enhancing data engineering practices and promoting adoption of modern tools and frameworks.

 

About You

To be successful in this role, you will be a seasoned data engineering professional with a strategic mindset and strong stakeholder engagement skills. You can confidently interact with senior leaders and technical teams, and you thrive on solving complex problems with practical, scalable solutions.

You’ll bring:

  • 10+ years’ experience in data engineering, including senior-level leadership.
  • Expert skills in SQL, Python, JSON and YAML.
  • Proven experience building scalable data solutions for enterprise environments, including data warehousing, streaming and AI/ML use cases.
  • Strong understanding of dimensional data modelling and data governance principles.
  • Hands-on experience with technologies such as Snowflake, Informatica, Postgres, Kubernetes, Azure data services, Neo4j and SAP.
  • Ability to balance technical depth with business acumen, engaging effectively with stakeholders from GM level to technical leads.
