About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Scientific Officer who is highly motivated to become part of a passionate and engaged team who will be responsible for:
- Performing manual and automated diagnostic testing
- Performing all routine procedures from point of specimen reception to execution of results for Pathological diagnosis, including specimen dissection
- Assisting with Stock Control
- Compliance with records maintenance and recording of results in line with protocols
- Maintaining all equipment and operating equipment in line with protocols
- Maintaining current scientific knowledge
- Participating in both routine and audit related Quality Assurance activities
- Contributing to continuous improvement and the development of new assays as required
- Participating in training staff
- Liaising with internal and/ or external stakeholders (referring practitioners) regarding test results or referrals as necessary
- Compliance and adherence with Policies and Procedures, Workplace Health and Safety Procedures and Quality Assurance Processes.
About You
To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the essential requirements:
- A relevant qualification from a recognised Australian institution or a qualification recognised by AIMS
- Demonstrated experience and exposure in a serology and immunology laboratory
- A sound knowledge of all aspects of serology and immunology
- A sound knowledge laboratory equipment and software
- A thorough understanding of Internal Quality Control Procedures and Quality Assurance Programs (EQA, QAP)
- An understanding of statistical-based processes in the evaluation of data
- Demonstrated experience in review of standard operation procedures and protocols
- Demonstrated ability to work well within a team
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with team members internal and external to the department using both written and verbal communication
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision whilst supervising junior team members
- A high attention to detail
- A highly organised and logical approach to problem solving
- The ability to understand and ensure compliance with WH&S policies and guidelines
