About The Role 

We are seeking a Supervising Scientist/Laboratory Manager to join our team of talented individuals at our Tamworth laboratory. Working in a team of 3 and reporting to the Laboratory Operations Manager, this is a dynamic role managing the supervision of laboratory staff as well as hands on laboratory work.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supervising a laboratory with two other medical scientists in a multi-disciplinary setting (Biochemistry, Haematology/Coagulation/Blood Bank) 
• Prioritising work-flows to meet client’s requirements 
• Ensuring results are released within agreed turnaround times
• Liaising with senior staff and Pathologists regarding unusual and abnormal results 
• Overseeing the management of laboratory equipment to ensure equipment is maintained in optimal condition and working order, scheduled routine maintenance is performed, and any unscheduled maintenance is performed as required 
• Reviewing and updating all laboratory documentation as required 

About You 

To be considered for this position, you will need to have a great blend of skills, including:

• An AIMS accredited tertiary Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent
• At least 3 years’ experience in a multi-disciplinary environment 
• Strong interpersonal skills to build meaningful partnerships 
• Experience in working under tight deadlines to meet day to day targets, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks within set timeline 
• Results orientated and a proactive and effective problem solver 
• Proven skills in defining, prioritising, and organising competing tasks to meet deadlines 
• Ability to demonstrate the highest levels of confidentiality and integrity
