Salary Range: 85,000K - 100,000K inclusive of super
About the role
We have an exciting full-time opportunity for a Laboratory Manager to lead, support and manage the local team of staff within the scientific laboratory. The Laboratory Manager will ensure all laboratory/scientific area duties are performed in a timely and efficient manner to provide a high quality; customer focussed service which meets all relevant accreditation requirements.
As the Laboratory Manager, you will become part of a passionate, vibrant and engaged team who will be responsible for:
- Train laboratory staff in standards, procedures and protocols in practice in the laboratory through an understanding of the underlying principles involved as distinct from the practices
- Manage the consumables and laboratory expenditure
- Maintain ongoing competency assessments of staff
- Perform evaluation and review of technical methods and equipment
- Review incidents and complaints and implementation of corrective actions
- Prepare staff rosters to ensure continuous service in laboratory or scientific area covering all shifts including on-call
- Process timecards for staff members
- Participate in the recruitment of staff
- Succession planning to ensure the ongoing stability of the laboratory
About you
To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the essential requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science, or AIMS accredited
- Certification or eligibility for certification by a recognised professional body
- Advanced knowledge of standard pathology testing techniques and procedures
- Previous experience in a pathology laboratory
- Demonstrate integrity and professionalism in all tasks
- Show initiative and a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment
- Must hold a Drivers License
