About The Role

The Preanalytical Team Leader is responsible for supervising and coordinating all aspects of preanalytical sample handling at Genomic Diagnostics, including sample receipt and processing, sample referrals to external laboratories and nucleic acid extraction, ensuring adherence to NPAAC/NATA ISO15189 requirements..

 

Responsibilities;

  • Manage the pre-analytical team training / competency and rostering
  • Proactively identify workflow and operational improvements to improve service delivery for better patient outcomes
  • Perform, maintain, and coordinate pre-analytical work practices in a timely and efficient manner according to documented procedures, ensuring adherence to NPAAC/NATA ISO15189 requirements.
  • Supervise and coordinate all aspects of preanalytical sample handling at Genomic Diagnostics, including sample receipt and processing, sample referrals to external laboratories and nucleic acid extraction.
  • Manage the pre-analytical team training and rostering
  • Manage all necessary communications with Healius business units and key stakeholders with regards to sample handling and issue resolution.
  • Maintain/track appropriate levels of accuracy – minimal (<1%) data entry errors observed
  • Coordinate the operation and maintenance of equipment, where applicable
  • Coordinate the management of materials, equipment and consumables that arrive in the laboratory
  • Use appropriate response to abnormal, urgent or time-sensitive requests
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records
  • Embedding and supporting team performance by recording direct-report KPIs through MyPulse
  • Report all incidents/non-conformances at the time of occurrence or if delayed as per Healius incident reporting guidelines

About You

  • Completion of Science degree or equivalent
  • 2 plus years’ experience in Specimen Reception within a pathology laboratory
  • Knowledge of the Ultra (Triple G) computer system would be an advantage        
  • Developed analytical problem solving and achieving/finding resolutions
  • Proficient computer skills, excellent attention to detail
  • Familiarity with medical terminology would be an advantage
