About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Cytology Scientist to perform routine screening of gynaecological and non-gynaecological cytology specimens; and attend FNA and EBUS procedures for the purpose of ROSE.
As a member of the laboratory team, you will ensure the production of accurate, high-quality, and timely results and reports.
As the Cytology Scientist, you will be responsible for:
- Performing routine screening and double checking of gynaecological specimens
- Performing routine screening of non-gynaecological specimens
- Attendance at fine needle aspirate procedures as required
- Recording results following documented protocols
- Maintaining current scientific knowledge via journal reviews and internal and external continuing education activities
- Participating in routine internal and external quality control activities including correlation with subsequent histology results, appropriate review of previous results and RCPA QAP for Cytopathology
About you
To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the following essential requirements:
- Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent (AIMS Recognised)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a scientist in related field with exposure across pathology
- CTASC(Gyn) qualification is required, but full CTASC qualification is preferred
- Self-initiative and problem-solving capabilities
- Diagnostic skills relating to all aspects of Cytopathology
- Knowledge of quality assurance systems
- Ability to foster a collaborative environment that encourages teamwork and knowledge sharing
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- This role may require additional vaccination history and evidence for department specific vaccine preventative diseases
