What You Will Be Doing
This opportunity for a Procurement Category Manager to join our team is available due to an internal movement. You will be joining a transformational team, led by an innovative manager committed to driving significant contribution to innovation and profitability.
Joining at an exciting time of transformation in the business, as Procurement Category Manager you will be at the forefront of the ‘new procurement’. You will be owning and driving your own projects within your assigned clinical discipline(s). These will often have a strong demand management component and require deep operational involvement. Together with key clinical and commercial stakeholders and critical vendors, you will assist in the development, deployment and management of procurement strategies to deliver sustained value and competitive advantage.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Develop, implement and manage category plans in area of responsibility (mostly on discipline level).
- Identify and deliver material benefits opportunities on both the supply side (including source to contract strategies, RFx development, supplier negotiations, contract management) and the demand side (including optimisation of product specifications, usage reduction, process and labour efficiencies).
- These will be recognised by the business and finance team and contribute to Healius’s strategic objectives and performance targets.
- Understand clinical and business requirements. Provide commercial and market insights
- Conduct spend analysis and discussions with key stakeholders to identify savings across various Pathology categories
- Assist the GM Procurement with the development, implementation and management of best-in-class procurement strategies and processes
- Plan and lead supplier engagements (e.g. as part of tender processes or contract management) and key stakeholder meetings (e.g. to capture business requirements or “sell process changes into the business”).
- Ensure project plans are deployed, and appropriate reporting is in place for the purposes of tracking benefits and project status and see these through from concept to implementation.
- Provide mentoring and on-the-job training for business analysts and procurement specialists (as agreed with GM Procurement)
What Type of Person Will Be Successful
You are a results-focused individual, with a willingness to learn and grow. You are curious and get excited about creating and leading change that ultimately impacts the wider business strategy.
These are the type of attributes & skills you would possess:
- Tertiary qualifications in commerce, economics or business and/or previous experience in tier 1 management consultancy
- At least 5 years proven procurement or strategic sourcing experience, ideally in a clinical environment
- Evidence of previous successful experience in identifying business improvement opportunities, running tender processes, conducting supplier negotiations, managing contracts, executing sophisticated spend and market analysis, and managing stakeholder relationships
- Deep understanding of the “traditional” procurement process on the supply side (e.g. market engagement, RFx, contract management)
- Previous experience in delivering demand side (operational) levers is highly regarded
- Keen interest in healthcare, technology; and commercially focused
- Advanced excel skills, demonstrated experience using ERP systems and business intelligence tools is preferable
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
